PurpleHull Pea Festival Kids' Fishing Derby
The 2008 PurpleHull Pea Festival
Kids' Fishing Derby will be Saturday, June
21.
The 2008 Kids Fishing Derby
application is now online.
Everyone had a great time at the
2007 event except
the fish and the worms.
There were 32 participants who caught a total of 105 fish,
with a total weight of 120 lbs.
A big thanks to our 2007 sponsor,
Piney Woods Ford and Peek
Energy Services, both of
Springhill, Louisiana.
Also a huge thanks to Steve's Marine in Magnolia, and
Ark-La Outdoors on U.S. 371,
just north of the state line, near Springhill.
Once again, without our sponsors, we'd be up a creek without a fishing pole.
And a big thank you to the
Arkansas Game & Fish Commission for
providing some special fish to stock the pond prior to the event.
And we thank Arkansas Wildlife
Officers Joe Owen and Tom Pointfield for being in attendance and
monitoring the event.
We
also want to say a special thanks to former Emerson
Mayor Joe Mullins
and his wife Linda for graciously allowing
the festival the use of their pond.
It's hoped everyone who participated in the 2006 Kids' Fishing Derby will
return for the 2007 event. And, of course, we'd love to have new
participants as well. See
you at the 2008 derby!
