PurpleHull Pea Festival Kids' Fishing Derby
The
2005 PurpleHull Pea Festival
Kids' Fishing Derby was June
18, and what a derby it was.
Kids were catching fish by the
bucket-load. Grown-ups were having a great time watching the action.
In all, about there were 27 participants who caught a total of 142 fish,
with a total weight of 130 lbs.
A big thanks to our sponsor, Henderson Funeral Home of Magnolia.
Also a huge thanks to Steve's Marine in Magnolia, and
Ark-La Outdoors on U.S. 371,
just north of the state line, near Springhill.
Without our sponsors, we'd be up a creek without a fishing pole.
And a big thank you to the
Arkansas Game & Fish Commission for
providing some special fish to stock the pond prior to the event.
We
also want to say a special thanks to Emerson Mayor Joe Mullins
and his wife Linda for graciously allowing
the festival the use of their pond.
It's hoped everyone who participated in the 2005 Kids' Fishing Derby will
return for the 2006 event. And, of course, we'd love to have new
participants as well. See
you at the 2006 derby!
