Our Purpose

We have a lot of fun putting on the PurpleHull Pea Festival.  We have fun seeing you have fun.  But there's more to the festival than meets the eye.

There is a purpose behind the madness at the PurpleHull Pea Festival.  It is this:  At present there is no park facility in Emerson.

Grant money from the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism is on the way.

It wasn't easy to get.  There was a catch.  The property had to be already in possession of the town.  Otherwise, Emerson would not be eligible.

Thanks to an extraordinarily gracious gift from the Bennie Emmert family (see news release), a prime piece of real estate at the corner of U.S. Highway 79 and Arkansas Highway 98 is now well on its way to becoming Emerson's first park.

So - for those of you who have helped us in any way - and continue to help us - we say, "Thank you."
