The PurpleHull Pea Festival has become something of a homecoming for many who grew up in Emerson and the surrounding communities. The festival committee hopes to encourage even more alumni to attend by honoring all EHS graduates, as well those who graduated from schools that consolidated with Emerson. At the 2005 festival, we'll honor the Emerson graduates - no matter what year they graduated - with a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, at the Emerson School Cafetorium. We also invite anyone who graduated from any school that eventually consolidated with Emerson, whether you be a graduate from Walkerville, Atlanta, McMittress, or some other former school we can't think of at the moment. It's a great way to come home and renew acquaintances of old, and see a one-of-a-kind festival at the same time. Former Emerson Mayor Joe Mullins (Class of '64) who is also the chairman of the Million Tiller Parade, suggests classes consider entering a float in this year's parade. It'll be a great time for all. The festival is very grateful to Burns Dozer Service of Emerson and Citizens Bank & Trust of Haynesville for sponsoring the reunion reception. Teresa (Green) Burns and her daughter Melissa (Burns) Johnson are co-chairman of the reception. They would love to have as many alumni show up as possible. If you'd like more information, you may email Teresa at nanaslogcabin@yahoo.net, phone (870) 859-3736, or email Melissa at majohnson71740@yahoo.com, or phone (870) 696-2920.
